Join Jim Luken, Ph.D., retired professor of biology, for a four-hour boat ride along the Waccamaw River, framed by moss-laden oak and cypress trees, for an experience like no other. Stop at Sandy Island, a remote island you can only get to by boat, and see rice plantations, trunk gates, slave cabins, eagles, and osprey along the way. SALT transportation to the river is not provided on this trip. Plan to arrive at Island Adventure Watersports in Socastee (5843 Dick Pond Rd.) at 9:45 a.m. Limited to 6. Activity level: 3.
