SALT Newsletter March 29, 2021

What a beautiful spring day here in South Carolina! Greetings from SALT central, where we are planning a fun-filled summer semester for you with some of your favorite repeat classes and some new instructors as well. The summer catalog should be posted on our website (wnsalt.com) within the next two weeks, but registration will not begin until the first week in May. The summer semester, with a membership fee of $10, goes from May 17 to August 6. As always, we appreciate you spreading the word to neighbors, friends, and family.

SALT National Tours Preview on Friday

We invite all of you to join us on Friday, April 2, at 11:00 a.m. for a special presentation from Laura Driggers, our representative at Premier World Discovery, about the tours we have planned for the rest of this year. Use this link to enter the Zoom meeting for free!

Registration forms for our national tours with Premier World Discovery are now available on the website, along with daily itineraries and costs. You will book these tours directly with the company, using our special code so that we all end up on the same trip. Here’s a reminder of the destinations and dates. (The deadlines for final payment are in parentheses). If you register early, PWD has instituted a risk-free policy. See the brochures for details. You don’t have to be a member of SALT to go on these tours, so invite your friends and relatives to join us. PWD will adjust the price to cover the airfare from wherever they call home.

Local Travel Plans

Kelli is busy planning our SALT day trips, and Salty, our new van, is getting decked out for our adventures. Local excursions will begin this semester, with the following trips confirmed:

Wednesday, April 28: Magnolia Plantation

Friday, April 30: Artfields in Lake City

Thursday, May 6: Lynn’s Blueberries and Bonfire Grill for lunch

Once the details of the spring semester trips are ready, we will let you know and add them to the course listing on the website so you can sign up to travel with us.

Once we pay off the remaining $15,000 we owe for Salty, we will be able to start paying ourselves salaries, so if you have some extra dollars to donate to that end, we would be very appreciative. In fact, anyone who gives $100 or more toward the van fund will be rewarded with a special trip, free for all donors! Just send your checks to 1412 Spruce Drive, Surfside Beach, SC 29575 and specify that the donation is for the van fund. Make the checks out to What’s Next? Senior Adventures in Learning and Travel (SALT), LLC.
