Sarah A. Appleton, Ph.D. is the author of The Bitch Is Back: Wicked Women in Literature (SIU Press, 2001) as well as numerous essays on the topic. She is a former professor at Murray State University, KY, Old Dominion University VA, and now teaches part-time at Indiana University SE. She is a voracious reader, an occasional artist, and a harassed gardener who battles daily with the herd of deer that regard her gardens as brunch.
